Application software is the subclass of the computer software, which utilizes the capabilities of a computer directly to a task that the user wants to perform. This software should be contrasted with system software that is involved in integrating the various capabilities of computer.

For instance, these are used in Financial, Customer Relationship Management and Supply Chain Management. Departmental software is sub type of Enterprise Software.

High-level languages are compiled or interpreted into machine language object code. Computer software may also be written in an assembly language, a mnemonic representation of a machine language using a natural language alphabet.
